The Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) has awarded the 2019 Environmental Golf Club of the year prize to Aldeburgh Golf Club. This prestigious award which has previously been won by the likes of Carnoustie recognises the work done by our green keepers to provide a balance between a challenging golf course and the environment. Rowan Rumball of the STRI said

Creating what many thought to be impossible, an almost perfect blend of course and ecology to the point where it is hard to tell where one begins and another stops. All without sacrificing the playability of the course.

He went on to add

A huge congratulations to the winners and finalists of this year’s awards. We have been amazed by the work that golf clubs and greenkeepers are doing for the ecological and environmental wellbeing of their courses and within the local community

In the final Aldeburgh were pitted against, among others, St Andrew’s links.

The prize was presented at The Crown, Harrogate and a team from Aldeburgh Golf Club were there to receive the award.
